In case you missed it, we announced on Sunday that Sunland Foursquare will now be:
Our Vision
We long to reveal the beauty of Jesus—to make God visible in a world that’s grown spiritually blind.
Rooted in His Word and Spirit, we aim to become a people who can reflect the image of Jesus.
Together, we are a grove that points to something greater.
Our Values
A living grove, rooted in Jesus.
In a world where Christian culture feels routine, we need unmistakable followers of Jesus. May our lives speak so clearly that there’s no mistaking who we follow.
A thriving grove planted near living water.
Even in impossible ground, we can flourish. Like the trees of Psalm 1, we’re rooted not in trends or cultural moments, but in Scripture—anchored in truth.
We delight in His word, and we find peace there. Even in spiritual deserts, may we be an oasis of life—A grove bearing fruit in every season.
We are Empowered by His Spirit.
We do not depend on our own ability to fix ourselves—we can’t. We look to the Holy Spirit who empowers us to be a Holy People. We believe with full conviction—His power still moves, and His mission still stands. We are a grove fully dependent on the Spirit—the One who brings dead things to life, and breathes hope into the Church.
We make God visible.
Our objective is to reflect the image of Christ to a hurting world. We want to be people who are deeply formed and can show what it means to follow Jesus. In a world that desperately wants to see God, may we be people who reveal His beauty.
We are resilient.
Every life tells a story and every way of living bears a kind of fruit. Like the ancient olive tree—able to survive drought, fire, and flood—we want to be trees that endure through every season. Not only enduring, but flourishing—bearing the fruit of the Spirit in every part of life (Galatians 5:22–23).
By the power of the Holy Spirit and alongside His holy people, we are rooted, grafted, and growing as one.
The God who first breathed life into humanity is still planting, still restoring, still forming His family.

A message from Pastor Josh
I want to acknowledge that with any big change, there can be questions or concerns. If you’re feeling unsure or want to understand more, I would love to sit down with you—over coffee, a meal, or even a walk. This isn’t just a change of name; it’s part of something God is building in and through us. I’m here to talk and walk with you through it.
To help answer some questions you might have, I’ve placed a couple of Question and Answer form down below.
-
Last year, during our restart process, I felt God calling us into something new. After praying and seeking His direction, I brought the idea of a name change to our leadership and council.
As I prayed, studied Scripture, and explored the history of our city, I discovered the deep roots of olive groves in this area. Even today, you can see old olive trees lining Apperson Street—a signpost of what once was.
That image stayed with me: trees, groves, life. Even visiting relatives would say, “There are so many trees here!” It began to resonate deeply.
After much prayer and discussion with our leadership team, and our vision emerged.

Absolutely.
Our theology, values, and affiliation with the Foursquare denomination remain unchanged. This is our tribe, and we are committed to it. In fact, our district is fully behind this change and cheering us on!
-
We anticipate the full transition will take a little over a month. Our target is to have everything—signage, branding, etc.—updated by early October, in time for our church anniversary!
-
For now, everything continues as usual.
Please continue making checks out to Sunland Foursquare Church. We’ll let you know when the full rollout happens and when any changes to giving information take effect.
